Beleagured Paris St Germain named Laurent Fournier as the successor to sacked coach Vahid Halilhodzic on Wednesday.
Fournier, 40, was named by chairman Francis Graille after he took charge of the PSG training session on Wednesday.
Fournier, a former France international midfielder, played for PSG from 1991 to 1998, winning the 1994 league title, 1996 European Cup Winners' Cup and three French Cups.
Halilhodzic, who went close to achieving a double of League and Cup titles last season, was sacked after 19 months in charge.
PSG are hovering close to the relegation zone this season with just four points from six games this year and with only the French Cup to play for until the end of the season.
