Poland and Ukraine want to organize Euro 2012

Ukrainian government has approved already that Poland and Ukraine to organize European Championship from 2012. Ukrainian FA has presented yesterday the documentation which will be sent to UEFA authorities on 21 July.

This documentation has 400 pages and includes information about capabilities and prospects of development of sport and social infrastructure, as well as guarantees of the both governments.

It was presented to presidents of Poland and Ukraine, Aleksandr Kwasniewski and Viktor Yushchenko, but also to prime ministers Marek Belka and Yulia Tymoshenko. The document was signed by both football federations, by their chairmans, Micha³ Listkiewicz and Hryhorij Surkis.

Dirck van Oyen, general manager of this project, said: „Poland and Ukraine have now 85 millions of people. We expect to be supported by fans from Scandinavia and also by states from Black Sea basin. According to the plan, we want to build stadiums for 1,5 million spectators, which will be more modern than the stadiums from Italy”.

Except Poland & Ukraine, other countries want to organize this competition like Croatia & Hungary, Turkey & Azerbaijan, Greece, Italy and Russia.

The winner for organization of Euro 2012 will be known on 8 December 2006.

There is an official motto of Poland-Ukraine Euro 2012: „We play together, we win together”.
